An Awareness Programme on Road Safety, Functioning of EVM Machines and Rally on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao organized at MMModi College

Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala in collaboration with Patiala Foundation (NGO) and NSS Wings of the college organized an awareness programme on Road safety with focus on safety measurements on roads, the importance of traffic rules, the causes and consequences of road accidents and the administrative setup to ensure the safety of the citizens on the road. In this event Mr. Pawan Goyal, Social Activist was the main speaker. The College also organized an awareness rally to bring public awareness about the flagship scheme of Central Government of India titled, “Beti Bacheo Beti Padhao”. The focus of this event was to engage the youth and the society in constructing a progressive narrative about the role and contribution of Indian females in the national building and a developed society. This rally was conducted in collaboration with the 5 Pb Bn,4 Pb Bn and 3 Pb Air Sqn. Total 115 NCC Cadets were present in this programme.
The College Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal inaugurated the programme and said that it is our responsibility as citizens to bring awareness about such social violations and to ensure safety and justice to the victims and the survivors of road accidents. He also motivated the students to learn about electoral process and to vote in a responsible way. He also flagged off ceremony and said that when we educate a girl we raise an educated family, an educated society and an educated nation. He said that Indian women are contributing immensely in the fields of politics, economy, science, literature, cinema and defense and the quality education is the reason behind this.
NSS Programme Officer Dr. Rajeev Sharma told that according to the “Road Accidents in India” report released by WHO in the year 2023 there are 461,312 road accident have been reported by states and Union territories and we must adopt comprehensive approach to the contributing factors to these accidents.
Ms. Vidhi from Patiala Foundation said that it is mandatory to obey traffic rules and regulations. She also articulated on various traffic rules and laws to ensure road safety.
In his address Mr. Pawan Goyal said that the students can play an important role in fighting against road accidents and may become our safety ambassadors. He said that without public participation laws are often non-functional.
In the second part of this programme an in-depth explanation about functioning of EVM machines was given to the students. Dr. Shwinder Singh said that voting process is an easy and simple technique and important for participatory democracy.
In this programme, NSS Officers, Prof. Jagdeep Kaur, Dr. Deepak Kumar, NCC Officer lieutenant (Dr.) Rohit Sachdeva, lieutenant (Dr.) Nidhi Rani Gupta, NCC Flying Officer Dr. Sumeet Kumar and BCG Offficer Dr. Veenu Jain, Officer Dr. Rupinder Singh Dhillon, Dr. Varun Jain and Sh. Ajay Kumar Gupta were also present. Dr. Maninderdeep Cheema, Nodal Officer, SVEEP presented the vote of thanks.

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਫਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ (ਐਨ.ਜੀ.ਓ.) ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਐਨ ਐਸ ਐਸ ਵਿੰਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਸੜਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਬਾਰੇ ਇੱਕ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੜਕਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ, ਟ੍ਰੈਫਿਕ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ, ਸੜਕ ਹਾਦਸਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਨਤੀਜਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਨਾਗਰਿਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨਿਕ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮਾਜ ਸੇਵੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਪਵਨ ਗੋਇਲ ਮੁੱਖ ਬੁਲਾਰੇ ਸਨ।ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਭਾਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੋਟਰ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਤਹਿਤ ਡਾ.ਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਜਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਨੋਡਲ ਅਫਸਰ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮੋਹਿਤ ਕੌਸ਼ਲ, ਸਹਾਇਕ ਜਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਨੋਡਲ ਅਫਸਰ ਅੰਡਰ ਸਿਸਟਮੈਟਿਕ ਵੋਟਰਜ਼ ਐਜੂਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਐਂਡ ਇਲੈਕਟੋਰਲ ਪਾਰਟੀਸੀਪੇਸ਼ਨ (ਸਵੀਪ) ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਅੱਜ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਫਲੈਗਸ਼ਿੱਪ ਯੋਜਨਾ, “ਬੇਟੀ ਬਚਾਓ ਬੇਟੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਓ” ਬਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਰੈਲੀ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ-ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਕਸਤ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀ ਉਸਾਰੀ ਲਈ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ।ਇਹ ਰੈਲੀ 5 ਪੀ.ਬੀ.ਬੀਐੱਨ, 4 ਪੀ.ਬੀ.ਬੀਐੱਨ ਅਤੇ 3 ਪੀ.ਬੀ. ਏਅਰ ਵਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ. ਦੇ 115 ਕੈਡੇਟ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਡੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਉਲੰਘਣਾਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਹੋਈਏ ਅਤੇ ਸੜਕ ਹਾਦਸਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੀੜਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਚੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਈਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੋਣ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਨ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਰੈਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਫਲੈਗ ਆਫ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਰਸਮ ਅਦਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਲੜਕੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਿਅਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਪੜ੍ਹੇ-ਲਿਖੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ, ਇੱਕ ਪੜ੍ਹੇ-ਲਿਖੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਿੱਖਿਅਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ, ਅਰਥਵਿਵਸਥਾ, ਵਿਗਿਆਨ, ਸਾਹਿਤ, ਸਿਨੇਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾ ਰਹੀਆ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰੀ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਮਿਆਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੈ।
ਐਨ ਐਸ ਐਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਅਫਸਰ ਡਾ. ਰਾਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਡਬਲਿਊ ਐੱਚ ਉ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਾਲ 2023 ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ “ਰੋਡ ਐਕਸੀਡੈਂਟ ਇਨ ਇੰਡੀਆ” ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ 461,312 ਸੜਕ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ ਕਾਰਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਅਪਣਾਉਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਫਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਵਿਧੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਟ੍ਰੈਫਿਕ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸਨੇ ਸੜਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਟ੍ਰੈਫਿਕ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਦੱਸਿਆ।
ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਪਵਨ ਗੋਇਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਸੜਕ ਹਾਦਸਿਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਹਿਮ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੂਤ ਬਣ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਅਕਸਰ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ।
ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਭਾਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਈਵੀਐਮ ਮਸ਼ੀਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਕਾਜ ਬਾਰੇ ਡੂੰਘਾਈ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ। ਡਾ. ਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵੋਟਿੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਇੱਕ ਆਸਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਲ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ, ਪ੍ਰੋ: ਜਗਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ. ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਲੈਫ਼ਟੀਨੈਂਟ ਲੈਫ਼ਟੀਨੈਂਟ (ਡਾ.) ਰੋਹਿਤ ਸਚਦੇਵਾ, (ਡਾ.) ਨਿਧੀ ਰਾਣੀ ਗੁਪਤਾ, ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ. ਫਲਾਇੰਗ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਡਾ. ਸੁਮੀਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਬੀ.ਐਸ.ਜੀ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਡਾ. ਵੀਨੂੰ ਜੈਨ, ਡਾ. ਰੁਪਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਢਿੱਲੋਂ, ਡਾ. ਵਰੁਣ ਜੈਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਅਜੇ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਗੁਪਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਿਰ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਡਾ: ਮਨਿੰਦਰਦੀਪ ਚੀਮਾ, ਨੋਡਲ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ, ਸਵੀਪ ਨੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ।
